Wexford GAA Chairman Diarmuid Devereux described it as an historic night for the Association in the county.

The Chairman made his comments on Tuesday night with the official switching on of the floodlights at the Ferns Centre of Excellence.

With the floodlighting of the main pitches now in place, it's expected that the dressing-room complex will be completed on schedule over the coming months.

Already it is looking like a vision of what great things are to come in Wexford G.A.A. as the work is now almost complete.

The County Chairman told those present that it was an historic night for the Association in the county as the Centre of Excellence is finally at the stage of nearing completion.

'We are officially turning on the floodlights tonight. This is an emotional occasion for the Association in the county as after many trying years we are now nearing a completion stage. It will serve the G.A.A. in Wexford well over the coming years.

'We will now have the Centre of Excellence ready for the national Féile Peil in June.

'It will be a wonderful showcase for the G.A.A. in the county with all the visiting teams from all over the country. Following this we will have the official opening of the Centre of Excellence in July.'

Clubs all over the county are busy planning for the Féile on the weekend of June 26-28.
