Maynooth guided by Model Co. men
Two talented young Wexford hurlers have helped Maynooth University to qualify for the final of the Kehoe Cup, the Leinster competition which honours the memory of our own Micheál Mac Eochaidh, former President of the G.A.A.
The Kildare establishment secured a spot in the decider in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford, on Sunday with a resounding 7-26 to 1-15 win over the home side.
And Maynooth were powered to victory by Kevin Sheridan of Oulart-The Ballagh and Ross Donohoe of Buffers Alley.
Two players from the same club may be on opposing sides in the final too, as the Trinity College squad to face Wicklow in the last group game on Sunday will include Niall Redmond (Oulart-The Ballagh) and Eoin Kelly (HWH-Bunclody).
However, Garden county boss Seamus Murphy from Rathnure will have something to say about that.
Maynooth's first Fitzgibbon Cup game is tonight (Tuesday) away to U.C.D., while the Kehoe Cup final is fixed for February 5.
Sheridan and Donohoe were also involved on Sunday week when they opened their campaign with a 4-17 to 3-8 victory over Louth in Darver.
