Nine on the trot for ace Evered

FRIDAY NIGHT last saw the Wexford Women's League present the respective divisional players of the year and top scorers with their awards at a function in the Riverbank Hotel.

Luckily most of the award winners were in a position to attend although the first winner, Caitríona Murray from Castledockrell United, was unable to be there as her club function was on the same night.

Caitríona had scored 23 goals as her club was very impressive in winning Division 2B which gave her the top scorer in the division award, and she also was an impressive winner of the divisional player of the year accolade.

Róisín Furlong of All Blacks won the Division 2A top scorer while Aoife Morrissey of Taghmon United won the player of the year. Lisa Johnston of St. Joseph's rounded off a great season by winning the Division 1B player of the year while Kellie Keating of New Ross Town was player of the year.

Leanne O'Reilly won the Division 1A top scorer but was unable to attend as she was on vacation, so North End goalie Tanya Walker collected the award on her behalf. Katrina Parrock of Kilmore United showed her prowess as an all-round sportswoman by winning the player of the year for the division

Liz Evered won the Premier division top scorer for an incredible ninth season in a row and Danielle Martin of Adamstown was a very popular Premier player of the year.

Wexford Youths Women players were also presented with their awards, with Rianna Jarrett rounding off her season as club top scorer. Lauren Dwyer was declared young player of the year while Edel Kennedy and Mary Rose Kelly were named as joint Senior players of the year.

Peter Doyle acted as M.C. for the night while league Vice-Chairman Barry Dempsey thanked everyone for attending and congratulated all the winners.

Tramore FC 5, St. Patrick's Athletic 2: Wexford League side Tramore made it through to round two of the F.A.I. Intermediate Cup after a 5-2 win over Dublin side St. Patrick's Athletic.
