The St. Peter's quest for a Top Oil Leinster Schools Senior A double ended in disappointment in the Netwatch Carlow Training Centre in Fenagh on Saturday, when the hurlers exited at the semi-final stage to St. Kieran's (Kilkenny) on a 1-18 to 1-7 scoreline.

Although Barry O'Connor goaled in the 20th minute, Peter's were in bother at half-time when they were only level (1-6 to 0-9) after playing with the strong wind.

And they never rose a gallop after the break, adding just one point from a free as Kieran's cruised home.

The second semi-final in Thomastown was abandoned early in the second-half following an injury to a Good Counsel player. They trailed Kilkenny C.B.S. by 2-5 to 0-3 at the time.
