Trio on Leinster squad

Leinster L.G.F.A. have selected a panel of 25 players to represent the province in the 2016 Post Primary Schools interprovincial competition on Saturday, January 23, in Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath.

The team will be captained by goalie Bríd Byrne of Coláiste Bríde (Enniscorthy) and Ballyhogue. Bríd is joined on the panel by Noelene Shanahan (Coláiste Bríde and Crossabeg-Ballymurn), and Leinster young player of 2015, Emily Coakley, from Loreto and St. Fintan's.

Nine Leinster counties in all are represented on the panel. Wexford L.G.F. wish all the players, team management and organising committee every success in the Interprovincial competition.

Congratulations to Eleanor O'Brien from Adamstown who received a scholarship from on Sunday at the provincial Convention in Carlow.

Turning to camogie, the draws for the Leinster championships were made on Saturday at the annual Convention which saw Dublin's Pat Martin take over from Rachel Hogan of Wexford in the chair.

The Seniors will play Kilkenny in the semi-final on May 22, with Offaly facing Kildare or Dublin on the other side of the draw. The Intermediates have a quarter-final against Dublin on May 8, with the victors to take on Meath in the penultimate round a fortnight later.

The Under-18 'A' championship semi-final against Kilkenny is on August 7, with the winners to face Dublin or Offaly, while the Under-16 'A' championship clash will be played on a round robin basis with the full details to be finalised.

The AIB Leinster Club championships will see the Senior winners playing Kilkenny in the semi-final, and Dublin awaiting the outcome, while the Intermediate victors will take on Laois in the quarter-final, with Kilkenny or Carlow next in line.
