Jordan on the double
FRIDAY NIGHT last was the best last week for Wexford-owned and trained runners with owner David Jordan (Wexford town) scoring a nice double at Waterford.
'Archaton Diamond' ('Archaton Pine-Mantha') took race two to record her first race win. 'Diamond' turned in third pace into the back straight before launching her challenge between the last two bends to draw away and score nicely in 29.46.
Later on the card her full sister, 'Archaton Peach', took the last race to record her fourth career victory when putting in her effort off the second bend and going to the front by the third to score in 29.39.
There was another Wexford win in race two when the Nick Turner-trained 'Kacys Blu' ('Ace Hi Rumble-Springmount Chat') recorded her second win from three outings when making good use of her trap one box to make the bend in front and go into a four-length lead.
Although being closed down on the run to the line, 'Kacys' held on for a three-quarters of a length win in 29.42 for owner Denise Whelan.
At Harold;s Cross there was a long wait until the last race, the 13th, for a winner, and the Brian Madigan (Enniscorthy)-owned and trained 'Mababy' ('Ace Hi Rumble-Maybe Classy') scored for the second time and did so most impressively when showing fine early dash to lead.
Favourite backers had very little worry after that as she raced clear of her field to score an easy 29.26 win.
The Ronnie Shinkwin-trained 'Piercestown Liam' continued his bid on Saturday night at Dundalk track when running a good second in his second round heat, and will make his presence felt again this Saturday night.
At Enniscorthy track the Kingsmill Messi Unraced Stake got under way and there was an impressive display by the Brian Larkin (New Ross)-owned 'Aclamon Messi' ('Scolari Me Daddy-Aclamon Nikki') who would be an apt winner and is one of a good litter.
He scored a clear seven-length win in a best of the round 29.30. 'Kingsmill Messi' is standing with Michael Delahunty in Kilkenny.
