Olympian Peters visits pupils
A BELFAST woman who won a gold medal in the 1980 Munich Olympics, gave an inspirational talk to students in Wexford's Presentation secondary.
Heptathlon champion Mary Peters came to Wexford at the invitation of the Rotary Club.
She addressed a lunch-time meeting of Rotary members in the Riverbank Hotel, telling them about her life after the Olympics.
Ms Peters who is currently Queen Elizabeth's representative in Belfast, has given her time to charities that encourage the participation of young people in sport.
She was the team manager for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics and also helped to establish the International Games for emergency services which was held for the first time last year in Belfast.
Following her Rotary engagement, she visited the Presentation school where she spoke to transition year students about the importance of sport.
