Adamstown athletes showed their talents last weekend at Day 1 of the county championships, with just over 40 athletes competing for the club, there was lots of success and newly crowed county champions.

U10 Boys Long Jump Tadgh McDonald 3rd, U11 Boys Turbo Javelin 1st Conor Whelan, 2nd Cormac Byrne, U12 boys Luke Byrne 1st 600m, 3rd Turbo Javelin, Christopher Mahon 2nd 600m, 2nd Turbo Javelin, U15 Boys Ryan Carthy Walsh 1st 250mH, 1st High Jump, 2nd Long Jump, U15 Boys Jack Power 2nd High Jump and 2nd Shot Putt.

These were our medal winners, lots of our athletes made it out of heats and through to finals. Also this week the secondary school athletes were competing for their schools in the South Leinster Schools with more success Junior Walk 1st Triona Mooney, Minor High Jump 1st Ryan Carthy Walsh, 2ndin the Hurdles and Intermediate Walk Joe Mooney 1st, these athletes will now go forward to represent their schools at the Leinster Schools Championships. Well done to all competing.


The weekly '30' Card game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 17th May at 9pm there is €220 in prize money to be won each week. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on 17th May will be: be Ann Foley, Mary Power, Margo O'Reilly & Dympna Bradley.

Catering the following Friday 24th May will be: Brighid Boland, Edel English & Fiona Power. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.

The students and staff of Colaiste Abbain proudly present "The Field" by John B. Kean in St. Abban's Hall, Adamstown on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th May. The play is directed by Mr. Paul Walsh, Wexford Drama Group. Admission €10 and €5 for OAP and students. Primary School children free. Curtain each night at 8pm. A show not to be missed.


They are making a presentation of the proceeds from the Pat Byrne memorial road run to the New Ross Community Workshop in Brad Ógs Bar on Tuesday night 14th May at 9 o'Clock. All are welcome. A reminder that the 24th may is the deadline for deposits for the trip to the Dorset Steam fair.


Do remember Race night in Brad Ógs on Friday 24th May at 8.30pm to raise much needed funds for our Community Centre funds and local Clubs. Horses €10 each they ask for your support Tickets to be collected on Friday 17th May in Community centre at 8pm. Sponsorship of €50 for race night would be much appreciated. Adamstown Monthly Meeting will be on Wed 22nd may at 8.45pm. all members please attend.

Fashion Show

Designer and new clothes will be presented by "Vincent's of Wexford" (Formerly Fred's Fashions) on Thursday, 16th May 2013 at 7.30pm in Whites Hotel in aid of Saint Vincent De Paul and local Guiding and Scouting. Tickets: €10 (includes ticket and entry into door prize).

First Holy Communion

Kennedy Park School Children takes place on Sunday, 19th May at the 10.00 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Masses and also on Sunday, 26th May for Scoil Mhuire pupils at the same times.

Alzheimer's Tea Day

The Alzheimer's Tea Day at Clonard Community Centre raised a total amount of €232.17. Thank you to all those who donated cakes and supported the event.

Community Tidy Towns

We are looking for local people to come to an open night at FAB Community and Family Resource Centre, on Tuesday, 14th May at 6.30 p.m. to discuss setting up a tidy towns committee for the FAB area.

Cup Cake Afternoon

Lawson House Nursing Home will hold a Tea and Cupcake afternoon on Thursday16th May from 2.p.m. in aid of the World Vision survive till five campaign. Please come along and support this great charity by having some tea/coffee cupcakes and a chat, looking forward to seeing you there thank you.

The Handball Club

Congratulations to Billy Heffernan Kilcotty who was one of the finalists in 2 double Handball Tournaments in Oulart the Ballagh Handball club this year. Fit and reliable as usual Billy had the distinction of winning one tournament and being runner up in the other. He is one of a number of Parishioners here in Glenbrien who were and are active members of the Oulart the Ballagh Handball Club and has been playing for the club for over 25 years.

It is planned to commence the construction of the new Handball Alley herein the Parish within the year. When completed this will be a fantastic asset not alone to the young people in the locality but also to everyone who has an interest in the benefits of sport of any kind.

Camogie Club

Camogie News.Well done to the U14s girls and their mentors who took part in the Slaney Festival last weekend, the girls got to the final but unfortunately they were beaten 3-2 to 1-1 better luck the next time.

Parents Association

There is a meeting for all Parents/ Guardians of children in the school on Tuesday 16th May at 8.00pm to discuss the upcoming events and activities planned for the children to the end of term. G.A.A. Lotto

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot of €4,600 held in The Slaney Inn Oylegate on Wednesday May 1st.

The lucky dip winnersrs were Angela Shiggins, Mai Murphy, Ken Bolger, Michelle Black, Andrew Fitzhenry, Dimitar Dimon, Ralp Swaine, and Fr. Jimmy Ryan. The next draw will be held on Wednesday May 15th in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate for a jackpot of €4,800.

Fr. Liam Jordan

The community of Oylegate/Glenbrien deeply regret the passing of Fr. Liam Jordan on Tuesday last. We were privileged to have him living among us for the past three years and appreciate his contribution to parish life. We extend our sympathy to his family.

Memorial Garden

The Memorial Garden project should be near completion for the Patron Day, on Sunday, 7th. July. It has been chosen as part of a Fás Training Project which would represent a saving of about €5,000 to the community.

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning will be held on Thursday May 30th in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate in aid of Crumlin Hospital. All support would be greatly appreciated.


Congratulations to all the boys and girls of fifth and sixth class in Oylegate National School who recieved the sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday May 2nd.

Taghmon/ Camross

Dancing at Camross

The June dance will be held in Camross Ballroom on Friday 7th June with music by 'Done and Dusted'. This group has a huge following and we are assured that the dance floor will be in big demand. Adm. €8 inc Tea. Dancing 10pm to 12mn.

Camross ICA

The above ICA guild will hold the annual Ann Power memorial walk on Sunday 26th May leaving Camross Hall at 6.30pm. Proceeds of this years walk will be donated to Wexford Hospice Homecare.


Our next outing of the year is at Gowran Golf Club on Saturday 18th May and we have the tee box from 1.15 to 2.45pm. A committee member will be in touch shortly to inform you of your allocated tee-time, don't be late.

Taghmon I.C.A.

The May meeting of Taghmon I.C.A. takes place on Wednesday 15th May in the Scout Hall at New members are welcome.

Camogie News

Taghmon/Camross U14 camogie girls played Rathgaroue/Cushinstown at home last Wed evening.

The girls played a great match showing great skills and determination .With both teams evenly matched it was all to play for.Taghmon/Camross won on a scoreline of 2-4 to 2-1.

Scores on the night were Clodagh Dunne 1-3 and Ciara Banville 1-1. Team Aoibheann Butler,Katelyn Maher, Gillian Banville, Aideen Winters, Rebecca Banville, Annie O'Gorman, Mairead Nolan, Clodagh Dunne,Rachel Murray, Ciara Banville, Michelle Carty, Anna Eustace, Emma Clarke, Emma Kelly. Well done girls. Next match away to St Annes.

Coiste na nOg

Coiste na nOg is getting into full swing these days. Our U8's had matches in football against St. Anne's & Bannow/Ballimitty & hurling against Rathgarogue/Cushinstown. U10's had a football matches against Gusserane and Kilmore, the Caulfield League is due to begin next week in hurling.

U12's played in their 1st hurling league game against Rathgarogue/Cushinstown which turned out to be a very close game. U12's footballers will play Geraldine O'Hanrahans in Taghmon on Sunday 19th. Our U14's Munna Abbain Gaels played Oylegate which unfortunately we lost 2-11 to 7 points. They also played Starlights and their next match will be against Rathgarogue/Cushinstown on Thursday.

U16's are continuing their winning ways in the 1st round of hurling beating Faythe Harriers 2-10 to 2-08 in a hard fought battle. Well done to all teams and their mentors.


Our craft series will start on 16th May from 7-9pm, please ring the centre and let us know if you would like to attend this 4 week course. The cost will be €30 for the 4 weeks.

GARDENING FOR SUMMER: This course will start on 21st May from 10am to 12 noon. The cost of this course will be €40
