Auto test skills on show
AUTO TEST drivers put their skills to the test in Wellingtonbridge recently. The Wexford Motor Club in association with the Wexford Sports and Classic Car Club hosted this exciting auto test challenge.
There was a great line-up of entries from all over the country as this is part of the Munster championship final and the fifth event in the Beginners Trial Drivers Club Championship. The driving skills were exceptional and it was a hardfought battle for the winner.
However, the outstanding driving of Don Giles from Bandon, the overall winner, in his rear wheel drive Westfield, won the day. Local man Rory Power from New Ross in his auto test Mini took fourth place overall. The ladies' award was taken by Zoe Briggs.
Part of the test was an Auto Solo designed to cater for road legal vehicles. It was a little less challenging than the main Auto Test but still required a high level of driving skill.
This was a real fun part of the afternoon as first-time and novice drivers got a chance to test out their skills. There was a one-day competition licence available for this class. First place in Auto Solo was Liam Croston from Skibbereen.
The Wexford Sports and Classic Car Club has had another great season with a long list of events organised by the club throughout the season which raised lots of cash for charities such as Aware, RNLI and other local charities. The next big run will be on Bank Holiday Monday, October 31. See www.wexfordsportsandclassiccarclub. for further details.
