Barry Browne from Foulksmills competed in the Irish Drug Free Powerlifting Association (I.D.F.P.A.) single lifts national championships 2015 at the Cork Institute of Technology recently.

He competed in the bench press competition and the dead lift competition, winning both events in his 90 kgs. M1 weight class , bringing back two All-Ireland titles to Wexford.

This year was the biggest ever at the championships with over 400 powerlifters from all over the country taking part. Barry is pictured here dead lifting over 190 kgs.

He has been training and competing in powerlifting for over 15 years but didn't compete for a number of years due to some heavy injuries as this sport takes a heavy toll on the body from continuous stress on the tendons, ligaments and muscles.

Barry would like to thank all the staff at Club Vitae in the Maldron Hotel, Wexford, where he does all his training and preparation, for their continued support over the last number of years.
