The first contest was a no division bout between eleven-year-old Barry Murphy (E.B.A.) and Oisín Cronin (St. Aidan's, Ferns).

Meanwhile, it was a dramatic night outside the National Stadium in Dublin on Friday, and inside the ring there was disappointment for Seán Dempsey of Sacre Coeur.
The Enniscorthy lad lost the national Under-18 open 60 kg. final 3-2 to Alex Higgins of Fr. Horgan's despite a brave battle.
