Enniscorthy Boxing Academy held their annual tournament in the I.F.A. Centre on Saturday night.

It was a well-attended event with some excellent contests. E.B.A. took on a selection of local talent along with Carlow and Cork boxers who travelled for the event.

The first contest was a no division bout between eleven-year-old Barry Murphy (E.B.A.) and Oisín Cronin (St. Aidan's, Ferns).

Results: eleven-year-old Saoirse Kehoe (Rosslare) beat Ava Walsh (St. Colman's, Cork); eleven-year-old Killian Myles Sheridan (Gorey) beat Evan O'Leary (Ballagh); eleven-year-old Ellissa O'Brien Cashe lost to Megan O'Rourke (St. Michael's); eleven-year-old Róisín Balfe (Sacre Coeur) lost to Sarah Murphy (St. Colman's, Cork); twelve-year-old Tom O'Brien Cashe (E.B.A.) beat Naoise O'Leary (St. Anthony's/St. Patrick's); eleven-year-old Eddie O'Reilly (E.B.A.) beat Tiernan Meyler (Gorey); eleven-year-old Shane Reddy (E.B.A.) beat Evan Murphy (Ballagh); 14-year-old Jamie Stafford (Clonard) lost to William Byrne (St. Ibar's); 14-year-old Noah Kearney (E.B.A.) lost to Michael Moffitt (St. Mary's, New Ross); 14-year-old Brandon Gorniak (Na Fianna) lost to Qudus Nurudeen (Raging Bull, Carlow); 14-year-old Kyle Malone (Na Fianna) lost to Seán Whelan (St. Mary's); 15-year-old Martin O'Connor (E.B.A.) beat Maurice O'Keeffe (St. Colman's, Cork); 15-year-old Jake Cox (E.B.A.) beat Kuba Brzezinski (Raging Bull, Carlow).

Meanwhile, it was a dramatic night outside the National Stadium in Dublin on Friday, and inside the ring there was disappointment for Seán Dempsey of Sacre Coeur.

The Enniscorthy lad lost the national Under-18 open 60 kg. final 3-2 to Alex Higgins of Fr. Horgan's despite a brave battle.
