Taghmon Camogie - Our A.G.M. will take place on Monday, January 14, at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated.
If you have a daughter between the ages of six and twelve that has an interest in playing camogie, please bring her along to the centre on Saturday, January 11, at 10 a.m. for an introduction to the sport.
If you have a daughter Under-14, Under-16 or Under-18 that wants to play this year, please contact Sarah (086-2127038) and she will go through your options.
We had great success in 2019, with our Junior ladies winning the double in both the league and championship. Although it was a long year, the ladies never gave up and battled it out to the very end, and thankfully it was all worth it.
The committee members have been making great strides to try to revive the under-age teams in the club. Although it's still a work in progress, 2020 seems to be looking brighter for the future of our club.
Off the pitch the club also had success. Our two big fundraisers for the year (the table quiz and our Hurling for Hope raffle) both gained great support from not only the local community but also from far and wide.
The committee would like thank everyone who supported them this year, either by selling tickets, sponsoring prizes, or just support in general. We are very grateful.
From all in the club we would like to wish you all a happy new year! We will see you on the pitch in 2020.
The senior club members had their annual Christmas competition on Tuesday, December 17, and, although 'Jack Frost' was very much in evidence, thankfully we had a rare dry, sunny day and consequently an enjoyable round of golf.
When it came to the presentation of the prizes, it was very like the 'Late Late Show' of old, with a prize for nearly everyone in the house.
In keeping with the trend set by our new club Captain, Jim Keane, on the previous Sunday when he and his partner, Paul Bent, won the fourball competition, it was another ex-official, our Treasurer, Brian Judd, who came out the clear winner in this competition.
Other prize-winners were Michael Swan, Patrick McGuire, George Hillis, Edward Maloney, Brendan Long, Pat Furlong, Seamus Byrne, Martin Frehill, Marty Robinson, Niall McGuigan, Ray Murphy, Ger Cashman, Jan Jenkins, Seamus Thomas and Seamus Sills.
A lovely meal, provided by Emmet and his staff, was enjoyed by all. A special thanks was extended to the club Captain, Jim Keane, for his encouraging words and prize sponsorship.
After the meal and the presentation of prizes, Tommy and Michael Byrne, Pat Berney and Peter Firman provided a great musical evening's entertainment for the large number of members who remained.
All members, please note that you may invite family members and guests to the clubhouse to ring in the new year.
