Double delight for Harry

The second round of the Enniscorthy Leger was the feature on Thursday's card, and this week's semi-finals will be very competitive by all accounts.

Foulksmills trainer Harry Seery had a good night, recording a nice double. Firstly in heat one, General Idea owned by his brother, Seamus, made good use of his opportunity from his trap one draw to hold the inside line into the first bend. And it was to prove decisive as he went away to score well by two lengths from the strong-finishing Piercestown Club who was somewhat unlucky after being caught up in barging at the first bend earlier. The time was 29.02.

Heat two saw Harry's own Coyote Sea use his good start to lead around the first bend before running on well to record his seventh career win in 29.13.

Heat three saw a finish of necks and the first three flashed over the line together. Reserve I Kacys Blu set the pace early, however he was strongly challenged on the run to the line and Balllinaboola Ace, recording his third win from four starts, got up to beat the latter, with Luminous Rock finishing well to grab the third qualifying spot. The time was 29.14.

Heat four went to Skyview Blue who was recording his 17th race win when returning to something like his best, leading into the bend and running on strongly to hold the game effort of the lightly-raced Morton Volare by two and a half lengths in a best of round 28.90. Owner Eugene Dempsey (Castlebridge) is getting great enjoyment from this fellow who has put himself very much to the fore for outright honours .

The line-up is as follows - the Enniscorthy St. Leger A2/A3 525 semi-final one: trap one, Coyote Sea; trap two, Knight Bite; trap three, Luminous Rock; trap four, Moreton Volare; trap five, Baggerman; trap six, Kacys Blu.
