Gap get verdict in 'A' league
A great crowd turned out for the Hillbilly horseshoe league finals played recently in The Gap.
The 'C' final was played first between near neighbours Castletown and Kilanerin, with Castletown coming out on top 4-1. Man of the match was Kevin Doyle of Castletown who delivered outstanding shoes all day.
Next up was the 'B' final between Killenagh and Craanford. The 'Ford started off well but Mattie O'Leary had his troops fired up and they won convincingly 4-0. Man of the match was Seamus Philips of Killenagh.
Next up was the 'A' final clash between The Gap and the Corner House, Carnew.
It was eagerly awaited, with the Corner slight favourites going in to the contest.
The Corner got of to a flyer by winning the first game, but The Gap clawed their way back with a great display of throwing from Dick Doyle and Jimmy Dunne to win 4-1.
Man of the match was Dick Doyle of The Gap who got in important shoes when needed.
A big thanks to Seán and Pauline Brown of The Gap pub for all the refreshments they provided, and thanks to Ann Levingstone as well for the lovely food.
