Our inaugural 'Independence Day at St. Helen's Bay' team event proved a massive success. This was a Red Letter day for St. Helen's as over 50 teams teed off on a beautifully presented course.
Our constant companion, the wind, was a major factor, making it a demanding test as reflected in the scores. Players from over 20 visiting clubs swelled our numbers as our call for support received a resounding reply.
Our sponsors were extremely generous, and with 36 tees and 18 greens fully subscribed, too numerous to mention here. They will, however, be contacted individually by the club. The main sponsor were Myles and Leonora Walsh of Sandyford House, to whom we are extremely thankful for their support and beautiful prizes.
This was a magnificent effort all round, with special mention to Captain Aidan and his organising committee of Gerry Byrne, Larry Colgan, Pádraig Tiernan, Eric Byrne, Paddy Carroll and Ann Byrne, and Terry and Mick and the many helpers.
