Kind weather for racing


The weather was kind on Thursday night last and it made for an enjoyable night's racing and the feature race the final of the €2,500 Gain Dog Foods Leinster Oaks produced a cracking performance from trap three runner Kildallon Jessie, owned by Noreen Weir, Mullingar who came from the clouds to score going away.

Local hope Willmount Jewell set the early pace but was passed down the back by favourite Coonoughkerrylas approaching the third bend and looked the likely winner until Kildallon appeared on the scene full of running and quickly put the race to bed off the final bend to go on and beat the latter comfortably in a good 28.89 and on the evidence of this run a loner trip will be no trouble to this daughter of Hondo Black.

The Mick the Miller A3 first round was also run and there was some very nice runs recorded. Heat 1 saw Rathbally Titan show he is improving with every run when up in class and ran out a very good winner from Life's A Beauty in 29.04.

Heat 2 and Dromana Scampi also very much on the upgrade and he got out well from traps to score by a wide margin in a fast 28.86 his third straight win.

Cashen Warrior get up to score a nice win in Heat 3, time 29.14, while Monalee Celt was an easy eight length winner of heat four, time 29.01.

The semi-finals will be run this Thursday night.

The Chanelle XL A2 first round was completed with the three heats run and quickest of the heats was in heat two when Daytime Dazzler who scored well from the running on Piercestown Lisa in a good 28.86.

The semi-final will also feature this Thursday night.
