Mulrankin Sam produces the goods

There was a big turn-out on Thursday for the Enniscorthy and District Chamber Business Association and Wexford County Council's fundraising night for the Enniscorthy Christmas Festival.

It was a most enjoyable night for doggie people and those who turned out for the social night out with a difference, as many excited people were shouting their picks on as the action on track as always took centre stage.

Those who backed Shaneshill in race three had very little anxious moments as he led from trap rise to score a very impressive win in the best time of the night (28.88) for local trainer Thomas Codd.

The Riverside Park Hotel sponsored race six and a nice winner's prize of €325 and trophy went to the Eddie Dobbs-owned Danbe who burst to the lead off the second bend to go away for a good win in a time of 29.11.

The A4 575 semis were also run and in the first, Babbie Helen owned by Brendon Frayne got out well from her trap four box and she never looked like she would be caught after that.

Her time of 31.62 was just one spot quicker than the Tommy Byrne-owned runner Mulrankin Sam produced in the third semi when scoring his seventh career win.

The final looks like it is very competitive as there was a few hard luck stories for some of the other qualifiers.

Brendan and Michael McDonald enjoyed a nice Monday/Thursday night double with Treetops Impact and Ballymurn Royal.

The build-up to the Red Mills Future Champion stakes is well under way and top trainer Pat Buckley has put a few fast pups around the track last week. I'm sure there will be more to come in the next week or so.
