Top Irish snooker player Rodney Goggins from the 147 Club in Wexford made the perfect start to 2015 when he won the Premier Cup R.I.B.S.A. ranking event number four in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow over the weekend.

Rodney won the first ranking event of the season back in September and this win increases his lead at the top of the Senior Irish rankings.

In the final on Sunday the Wexford man beat Jason Devaney from Crossmolina in Mayo by four frames to one in an exciting final. The highest break prize went to Devaney with a superb 105

Rodney has qualified now to represent Ireland in the European team championships in Malta in March. He would like to thank the 147 Club on the Main Street in Wexford for all their help with free practice to prepare for events, and his coach P.J. Nolan who is formerly from New Ross.

In the last 16 he beat Philip Browne 3-0 before seeing off John O'Sullivan on a similar scoreline in the quarter-final. Rodney defeated Benny O'Brien 3-1 in the semi-final before that 4-1 victory over Devaney.
