Salmon Lad leaps to an impressive victory

Despite the dreadful weather a very good crowd attended Thursday night for a very good race card, a fundraising night for Marshalstown-Castledockrell featuring three finals.

Yet the run of the night was that of the John Kavanagh-trained Salmon Lad in race two as he flew from traps to lead and raced to a very impressive victory in a very fast 28.63.

Race three, the Solthern Insulations final, saw favourite Slaneyside Comet justify the odds, coming to the front off the last bend to score going away in a time of 29.41.

The Glenbrien Kennels A4 final saw Mustang Bing break well from trap three and hold all challengers to score a nice win in 29.32.

The feature race, the €2,000 to the winner Roban Financial Open Unraced Stake, saw odds-on favourite Alien Ticker get it right from trap six. He made no mistake, taking up the running turning into the back straight and racing right away to score in a fast 28.86.
