U-14s reach last four
Enniscorthy 29 Kilkenny 12
This was a very tight Under-14 Leinster League Premier Division match in the opening ten minutes at Ross Road, with Kilkenny's defence very strong as Enniscorthy found it difficult to get into their normal fluency.
They made the breakthrough after good work by lock forward Ciarán Doyle who put in the hard yards with his number 8 Marco Byrne who had full-back Darragh Kehoe in support, and he danced his way through the Kilkenny defence to touch down in the right corner. He missed the conversion. Kilkenny responded with a well-worked converted try to take the lead. Enniscorthy hit back again, and this time it was Arron Quigley who raced through the cover to score for a lead of 10-7 at the break.
Kilkenny scored their second try just minutes into the second-half to take the lead. The home team responded five minutes later and, after good work from the forwards, Marco Byrne set Arron Quigley free from halfway.
The flying winger scored the try to put Enniscorthy back in front before James Kaylita kicked the conversion.
Quigley scored his second try to extend the lead, and just before the end a terrific drive put centre Conor Walsh in space again.
As he kicked through he was held back and Enniscorthy were awarded a penalty try to secure the win on a final score of 20-12.
This win qualifies Enniscorthy for the semi-finals of the league.
