Women win while men draw
It was a great day for Wexford Wanderers R.F.C's Senior teams on Sunday.
The Vixens, the club's women's side, faced off against Dublin's Trinity University and came out well and truly on top. The ladies showed the same fitness and determination displayed in their league opener two weeks beforehand.
Defence was exceptional, keeping the opposing side out of the Vixens' half for the majority of the game and keeping them scoreless throughout.
There were seven tries in total with two scores each for Máire Rowe and Cat Ryan and a try each for Fleur Moran, Donna O'Brien and Siobhán Cloake, with Cloake also securing an extra six points with three conversions.
Final score: Wexford 41, Dublin University 0.
The Senior men took on visiting team Balbriggan and while they didn't have the upper hand, they did secure a draw, making sure both teams took something away.
Tries for Wexford were scored by John Rowe (following his wife's footsteps earlier in the day) and Liam Barry.
A penalty and conversion by Tom Hudson added five points and the final seven for Wexford were the result of a penalty try, after a high tackle stopped a certain score.
Final score: Wexford 22, Balbriggan 22.
