Behan bags the winner for Rangers
In poor weather conditions, Gorey Rangers progressed to the fourth round of the LFA Junior Cup with a hard-fought win over Dublin opponents Kippure Park.
Gorey Rangers 2 Kippure Park 1 (AET)
The first 35 minutes were dominated by Gorey with Kippure posing no real threat, and after 22 minutes Rangers' superiority paid off when Joe Bolger headed home from a corner-kick.
Gorey missed an opportunity to extend their lead with a Mark Woods through ball to Conor Casserly whose strike was saved on the line by 'keeper Dean Curley.
Ten minutes before the break, Kippure found a different gear and the intensity of their game increased ten-fold, leading to a deserved equaliser from a Thomas Talbot header off a corner-kick.
The second-half was difficult for both teams with the weather conditions, but it was Gorey who continued to threaten with Kippure's main threats coming from set pieces.
On 75 minutes, Jamie Howard had what looked a perfect goal disallowed by referee Kieran Dunne who was excellent throughout the game. Kippure's 'keeper Dean Curley then pulled off a top-class point-blank save to deny Joe Bolger in the 80th minute.
In stoppage time, substitute David Behan appeared to be taken down in the box but the referee didn't award the penalty. In extra-time, the game looked to be heading towards a penalty shoot-out. Then on came Dean McCann.
He was put through by Gary Murphy and his fresh legs were too much for Kippure. However, Dean Curley pulled off another good save to deny McCann. With five minutes left on the clock, Jamie Howard played David Behan in behind Kippure's back four and he calmly chipped Dean Curley for what proved to be the winning goal for Gorey Rangers.
