Bell set to be named as Youths boss
This newspaper understands that Wexford Youths Women have chosen Dave Bell as their new supremo but must wait for official clearance from his employer, the Football Association of Ireland, before they can rubber stamp the appointment.
After working with club sides cross-channel, Bell returned to take up a position with the F.A.I. in 2008 and has worked with the national governing body as a development officer. He was also head coach of the Irish Under-17 women's side in the 2017 European championships.
Wexford have a busy schedule ahead with a season, that includes a Champions League qualifying group in August, set to get under way in the spring.
Youths will hope to improve on their win-less European campaign of 2016.
It's yet to be seen what type of squad Bell will have available to him. Dressing-room problems have helped end the tenure of the last two managers and it will be up to the new boss to get everyone rowing in together.
Given the player merry-go-round that is the Continental Tyres Women's National League, and his extensive work with under-age national squads, it will be interesting to see whether Bell is able to attract new talent to Ferrycarrig Park in the coming weeks.
