Casey scores for Ireland
Orla Casey of Wexford Youths had an important role to play last week when the Republic of Ireland women's Under-19 soccer team secured their UEFA elite round spot with one game remaining after cruising to victory over Latvia.
Following their 3-0 win over Estonia on Wednesday, Dave Connell's side produced another impressive display on Saturday to secure the points with goals from Kate Mooney, Tiegan Ruddy, Casey and Lauren O'Callaghan.
Ireland led 1-0 at the break, and Casey availed of a goalmouth scramble in the 51st minute to double their advantage.
The Kilkenny teenager, who joined the Ferrycarrig Park crew from Evergreen, had come on at the break, having played in the first-half during that first victory against Estonia.
Ireland now face the home side from the Netherlands in their final qualifying group game, having already sealed their elite round berth, today (Tuesday) with kick-off at 5 p.m.
Casey will be expected to have a big role to play too in Wexford Youths' last two league games of the campaign.
