Harney hits hat-trick as Corach earn win

Division 1

Corach Ramblers need five points from their remaining four games to clinch the Division 1 title after overcoming St. Cormac's 4-1 in their midweek game.

The saints took an early lead thanks to an own goal, but two Niall Harney penalties had the home side ahead 2-1 at the interval.

Harney scored a fine individual effort to complete his hat-trick and make it 3-1, and Philly Murphy wrapped up the points with a late fourth.

Bridge Rovers are close to securing promotion to the top flight for the first time in 14 years after travelling to Ferns United and running out 2-0 winners.

Kevin Byrne and Mark Mythen got the goals for the Castlebridge men, and they now need just one more point to go up.

Tombrack can still join them in second spot after they chalked up a 4-2 midweek win in Curracloe with goals from Richie O'Hara, James Coleman, Mick Kelly and Jamie Walshe.

Curracloe also lost on their home patch on Sunday, as Wexford Bohs ran out 3-0 winners with goals from Dermot Flood (two) and Seán Pailing.
