Goals from Claire O'Riordan and Emma Hansberry got Wexford Youths off to the perfect start in this seasons Continental Tyres Women's National League in Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday evening last.

The Westerners came out of the blocks with plenty of energy and pressured their hosts into mistakes early. However, Wexford settled and slowly began to find their feet in a goalless first half.

Laura Heffernan's side really kicked into gear after the second half introduction of Aisling Frawley and the winger was involved in most of her sides forays forward thereafter.

Yet it was the reliable O'Riordan who met Hansberry's left wing corner with a bullet header in the 73rd minute to give Youths the lead. That advantage was doubled, and the points secured, six minutes later when Hansberry fired home a controlled left-foot finish from Frawley's cross.

Next up for Wexford is a home tie in the shield against defending league and cup champions Shelbourne. That game is scheduled for Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday evening.
