Rangers sink saints
Wexford Volkswagen Cup
Rosslare Rangers 'B', who ply their trade in Division 3A, caused an upset on Sunday, when dumping Division 2 high-flyers St. Cormac's out of the Wexford Volkswagen Cup.
A second-half double from Jason Ellard earned Rangers the victory, with Seán Roche replying with a penalty for the saints.
It was a good day for the Rosslare outfit, as their first team also came through their first round clash, seeing off Division 1 rivals Kilmore United 1-0 thanks to a Niall Walsh goal.
Fellow second tier side Forth Celtic breezed through, as they overwhelmed Rosslare Strand 9-0, with Jesse Farrell and Paul Underwood bagging doubles and Gordon Simpson, Mark Doyle, Ryan Murphy, Lee Busher and Darragh Rossiter adding a goal apiece.
A Paul Devereux strike was enough for Moyne Rangers 'B' to overcome Killenagh Wanderers 'B', while Enniscorthy Town won 4-1 away to Bunclody 'B'.
Gorey Celtic 'B' chalked up an impressive 4-1 victory over Fastnet Rovers, with Greg O'Rourke, Colm Stafford, Gavin Goodwin and Danny Dixon scoring for the north county side.
Jean-Luc Tubritt was the hat-trick hero for Fethard Rangers as they beat Kiltealy Celtic 3-1. The Division 5 leaders took the lead but Tubritt replied with a penalty just before half-time.
He made it 2-1 with a header midway through the second-half, and completed his hat-trick with five minutes remaining when he broke clear of the Kiltealy defence and rounded the goalkeeper before slotting to the net for his 15th goal in six games.
Shane O'Rourke and Niall Murphy both helped themselves to doubles as Ballymurn won 5-1 away to Ajax Athletic, with P.J. Bourke bagging their other goal.
Bree United edged out All Blacks 3-2 with goals from Noel Roche (two) and Dylan Dalton, while Rosbercon United earned the local bragging rights as a Jamie St. Ledger double and a Michael Cullen goal saw them edge out New Ross Town 3-2.
A Seamie McLoughlin hat-trick helped Taghmon United to a 5-1 win over St. Joseph's, with Brian Doyle and Luke Sinnott adding to their tally and Shane Doherty replying.
Shelburne 'B' overcame Tombrack's second string 3-0, getting on the scoresheet through an own goal, Jess Quigley and Conor Lynch, while Raheen beat New Ross Town 'B' 5-1 thanks to a Dylan Whitty hat-trick and goals from Daire Bolger and Ambrogio Ceveretti.
Division 3A leaders Wexford Albion were much too good for Adamstown 'B', winning 7-0.
Kyle Mann, Luke O'Neill and Liam O'Connor all contributed doubles, with Kenny Hunt completing their tally.
St. Leonards 'B' also booked their place in the second round, seeing off Enniscorthy Town 'B' 4-0 with goals from Seamie Kehoe, Tommy Byrne, Colin Walsh and Conor Tighe.
