Wexford Football League produced a dominant first-half display in Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday to book their place in the knockout stages of the Oscar Traynor Trophy.

The Slaneysiders had far too much ammunition for the Defence Forces in the opening 45 minutes, with goals from Adam Beary, Colin O'Brien and Kyle Dempsey giving the home side a comfortable 3-0 buffer at the break.

Wexford failed to add to their advantage after the interval, although they were strong defensively, and Warren Broaders came close to putting the icing on the cake in injury time but arrowed his shot wide of the left upright.

John Godkin's side now have to wait to see if they have done enough to top the group, with the A.U.L. not playing their final group game against the United Churches Football League, who Wexford beat 5-0, until Wednesday, January 18.
