Wexford branch mark 50 years
Referees Anniversary Dinner Dance
The Wexford Branch of the Irish Soccer Referees' Society celebrated their 50th anniversary in style with a dinner dance at the Talbot Hotel on Saturday night.
Founding members Joe Moloney, Donal Sadler, Stan Kelly, Charlie Delaney on behalf of Nicky Delaney (R.I.P.), Margaret Kelly on behalf of Richie Kelly (R.I.P.) and Caitríona Butler on behalf of Tommy Butler (R.I.P.) were guests of honour and were presented with awards on behalf of the Wexford Branch of Society by Paul O'Brien, President of the I.S.R.S.
The late Tony Busher and John Lappin were also fondly remembered.
Other guests of honour along with O'Brien were the I.S.R.S. executive and delegates Gerard Perry (Chairman of the FAI Referees' committee), Bill Attley (FAI Referees Chief Observer), John Scallan (FAI Senior Referees Observer), Denis Hennessy (Chairman, Wexford Football League), and Ian Lawlor (Chairman, Wexford Schoolboys League).
Denis Hennessy made a presentation on behalf of the Wexford Football League to the Wexford Branch of the I.S.R.S., while Paul O'Brien made a presentation on behalf of the I.S.R.S. to Gerard Perry.
George Lawlor was M.C. for the event, and the speakers were Seamus Ryan (Chairman, Wexford Branch I.S.R.S.), Gerard Perry and Paul O'Brien.
Wexford Branch member Brian Fenlon made a presentation of a cheque for €710, the proceeds of a collection among attendees on the night, to George Lawlor, Chairman of Wexford MarineWatch.
