This 7-0 scoreline was probably not a true reflection of the efforts put in by the Wexford girls in this game but more an indication of the Dublin league's clinical finishing in front of goal.

Wexford League 0 Metropolitan League (Dublin) 7

Played on an excellent surface in St. Leonards AFC, Wexford matched the visitors early in the game but were unlucky to concede on ten minutes when Lydia Cook floated the ball into the roof of the net.

The home side valiantly battled to get back on level terms but found the Metropolitan League a difficult side to break down, while Gráinne McCabe was putting in a player of the match performance in the Wexford goal to keep the Dublin side at bay.

As the game developed, the MGL broke down the well-marshalled home defence and eventually ran out comfortable winners with another goal from Lydia Cook as well as Isobel Finnegan, Keelin McEntee, Leah Farrell, Philippa Watters and Bethany Hand.

Wexford can take some positives from the game with an excellent performance from Gráinne McCabe in the goal as well as Doireann Kavanagh, Linda Bradley and Sandra Murphy.
