Youths women all set for new season

Wexford Youths Women had a very successful fundraiser at Kilcohan Park greyhound stadium recently, raising much-needed funds as they prepare for the forthcoming Contintnetal Tyres Women's National League which kicks off on March 17.

Youths are idle on the first weekend and will commence their season on Saturday, March 25, when they welcome Galway to Ferrycarrig Park for a 7.30 p.m. kick-off.

This should be a scintillating encounter with Galway having brought in some terrific new players. Youths' new manager Laura Heffernan has also strengthened her squad while retaining the services of most of the previous season's group.

As previous double league and cup champions, Wexford Youths Women will be looking to add some more silverware to their trophy cabinet. And, having put in a great pre-season preparation, the girls are ready for action.

The league officials have decided to go to summer soccer for the 2017 season and this should ensure top-quality football on better pitches and should also see improved attendances at the games.
