Taghmon return to Intermediate ranks

AN IMPRESSIVE second-half performance ensured that Kilanerin are safe in Senior football for at least another year, while their opponents in a relegation battle at wet and windy Farmleigh on Saturday last, TaghmonCamross, go back to Intermediate for the 2012 season.

The Gorey District side won the toss and decided to play against the strong wind in the opening half but still managed to lead by 0-7 to 0-4 at the interval. Taghmon-Camross missed a penalty four minutes before the break when the Kilanerin goalie, Tom Hughes, who conceded the penalty with a foul on Seamus McLoughlin, easily dealt with stopping Lloyd Colfer's kick from the spot.

With wind assistance Kilanerin dominated from the start of the second-half and goals from Jim Hughes, Tommy Boland and John Hegarty and some well-taken points from frees and play by Matty Forde ensured that the end result was a foregone conclusion long before referee John Carton sounded the final whistle.
